Traffic Alert: Temporary lane closure on Route 419 eastbound in Roanoke County from February 27-March 3

SALEM – Weather permitting, starting Friday, February 27, at 7 p.m. drivers should anticipate possible delays on Route 419 (Electric Road) eastbound in Roanoke County due to a lane closure for approximately five days.

The right eastbound lane of Electric Road will be closed from Ogden Road to the Route 220 southbound on-ramp and drivers will need to use the left and center lanes while traveling on Electric Road during this portion of construction. The southbound 220 on-ramp will remain open, but drivers will only be able to access the on-ramp from the center lane. All business entrances in the area of construction will be accessible.

This traffic shift will be in place until Tuesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. Drivers may experience delays or seek alternate routes during this lane closure.

Electronic message boards and signs will be in place to alert drivers to the upcoming changes in traffic pattern. Message boards will be updated with the most current schedule.

This work will primarily consist of storm drainage installation as part of the Route 419 and Route 220 Diverging Diamond Interchange in Roanoke and Roanoke County. Construction started in spring 2025 and is expected to finish in fall 2028.
