Traffic Alert: Watch for heavy traffic and traffic pattern changes during Bassett and Magna Vista High School graduations in Henry County

SALEM – Drivers can expect heavy traffic in the areas of Bassett High School and Magna Vista High School in Henry County for upcoming graduations on May 21 and 22. Those attending should plan to arrive early and pay attention to directional information.

On Thursday, May 21, Bassett High School will hold their graduation at 7 p.m. Drivers should expect heavy traffic between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Route 57 (Riverside Drive), Route 903 (TB Stanley Highway), Route 683 (The Great Road) and Route 220. Upon entering the school grounds, motorists will use two lanes separated by traffic cones.

On Friday, May 22, Magna Vista High School will hold their graduation at 7 p.m. To reach the school, motorists traveling from Route 220 (Greensboro Road), Route 58 (A.L. Philpott Highway) and Route 641 (Joseph Martin Highway) must use Route 687 (Soapstone Road) to connect to (Route 1060) Magna Vista School Road which will be limited to one way traffic.

The opposite end of Route 1060 (Magna Vista School Road) will be closed temporarily at its intersection with Route 688 (Lee Ford Camp Road). Electronic message boards will be placed alerting motorists to the temporary closure.
