Citizen information meeting set for Route 121 (Coalfields Expressway) pre-engineering study in Buchanan County

Monday, Dec. 11, from 4-6 p.m. at Southern Gap Transportation and Logistics Center

BRISTOL — In December, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a citizen information meeting to review a draft pre-engineering study for Route 121 (Coalfields Expressway) in Buchanan County.

The open house format information meeting will take place Monday, Dec. 11, from 4-6 p.m. at Southern Gap Transportation and Logistics Center, located at 1102 Ovenbird Road in Grundy. The meeting materials are available at the public hearing or by request by emailing mark.hill@vdot.virginia.gov

The purpose of the meeting is to review the alternatives presented in a pre-engineering study for proposed Route 121 in Buchanan County between Grundy and the Virginia/West Virginia state line near Slate, Va.

Comments regarding the project can be provided to VDOT until Dec. 21, 2023, via the following methods:

  • Comment sheets will be available at the in-person public meeting or can be mailed/emailed.
