Portion of Route 748 (Clinchburg Road) closed to through traffic due to deterioration of Salt Trail Trestle

Due to the failing structural integrity of the Salt Trail trestle located above Route 748 (Clinchburg Road) in Washington County, VDOT closed a portion of the road beneath the trestle on August 12.

BRISTOL – Due to the failing structural integrity of the Salt Trail trestle located above Route 748 (Clinchburg Road) in Washington County, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) closed a portion of the road beneath the trestle today (Tuesday, August 12).

The location of the closure on Route 748 is less than a 1/4-mile from the intersection of Route 745 (Old Saltworks Road) and approximately 1.25 miles from Route 750 (Old Mill Road).

VDOT is in communication with Washington County and the Town of Saltville, the owners of the Salt Trail. The recreational walking and biking trail is located between Glade Spring and Saltville.
