Public engagement meeting, second virtual comment opportunity scheduled for Interstate 81 Exit 7 and King Mill Pike (Bristol) STARS studies

Meeting planned for Wednesday, October 29, from 5–7 p.m. at Virginia Intermediate School

BRISTOL—The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is asking the public for a second round of input on two studies in Bristol focusing on the Interstate 81 Exit 7 interchange area and the King Mill Pike area.

A public meeting will be held Wednesday, October 29, from 5-7 p.m. at Virginia Intermediate School, located at 350 Van Pelt Circle in Bristol.

Additionally, surveys are available October 24 – November 7, 2025 at the following links:

The meeting and surveys are part of studies that began this year. Elements of the studies include:

            - How businesses are accessed.
            - Turn-lane improvements.
            - Traffic signal synchronization/coordination.
            - Intersection improvements.
            - Pedestrian improvements/connectivity.
            - Other traffic improvements that address safety and potential congestion issues.

The STARS (Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions) Program aims to develop comprehensive and innovative multimodal transportation solutions to address congestion and safety challenges in the Commonwealth.
