SALEM – A temporary signal will be installed starting Tuesday, May 27, as part of work to replace a culvert on Route 839 (Atkinson Hollow Road) in Bedford County. The culvert is located four miles northeast of Stewartsville and about 0.4 mile north of Route 619 (Jordantown Road).

Drivers should expect delays until sometime in late July, weather permitting. The temporary signal will control traffic around the clock to allow drivers to alternate using one open lane during the culvert replacement. A width restriction of 11 feet will be in place until the signal is removed.

Signs have been posted to alert motorists to the upcoming roadwork and traffic impacts.
