Drivers will need to seek alternate routes around the 7500 block of Bradshaw Road
SALEM — A section of Route 622 (Bradshaw Road) in Roanoke County is blocked in the 7500 block. This location is about nine miles west of Mason Cove Elementary School and about 10 miles west from Route 311.
When replacing a pipe, a road crew hired by the Virginia Department of Transportation was excavating and encountered an unknown water source or spring beneath the ground. The crew is working to place additional stone to help redirect the water.
No exact time for reopening the road has been determined, but it is expected to remain closed until sometime this evening. Drivers will be impacted during the afternoon commute.
Motorists can detour around the closure using Interstate 81 to exit 128 (Ironto) onto Route 603 (North Fork Road) to access Bradshaw Road.
Message boards are in place to alert drivers to the closure.
