SALEM – Weather depending, drivers can expect a new traffic pattern at the intersection of Route 681 (Franklin Pike) and Route 860 (Shooting Creek Road) in Floyd County starting Nov. 5.
New stop signs will be installed in both directions on Route 860 approaching the intersection. The change takes this intersection from a two-way stop to a four-way stop, meaning all traffic, including Route 860 drivers, will need to stop.
Crews will also install rumble strips approaching the four-way stop from all directions.
Electronic message board will be in place to alert drivers to the change in traffic pattern. Motorists may notice some flagging operations and short delays outside of peak travel times as crews work on the rumble strips before Nov. 5.
The schedule is weather dependent and may change. Drivers should pay attention to electronic messages boards to get the latest information.
