Traffic alert: Section of Route 61 closed in Giles County for emergency slope repairs

SALEM – Emergency work to repair a slope has closed a section of Route 61 (Wolf Creek Road) just west of Piney Mountain Road to near Coonskin Hollow Road in Giles County just outside of Narrows.

Truck traffic will need to use Route 460 as a detour route.  Other vehicles can follow the posted detour signs and use Route 724 (Old Wolf Creek Road) onto Monroe Street near Ragsdale Football Field to return to Route 61 (Wolf Creek Road).

Message boards will be in place to alert drivers to the upcoming nighttime road work and announce any revisions to the schedule due to weather.
