Traffic Alert: Southbound Interstate 81 right lane now open in work zone near Salem

SALEM – The right lane of southbound Interstate 81 in Roanoke County near Salem at mile marker 138.4 is open as of 8:40 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4.
The lane had been closed since the morning of Friday, Aug. 2 for emergency bridge repairs after a tractor-trailer struck the bridge over Route 635 (Goodwin Avenue) during the overnight hours.
All ramps at exits 140 and 141 are now open. The 14-foot vehicle width restriction that was in place during the repairs is no longer in effect.
