Motorists should use caution and be aware of the potential for black ice.
RICHMOND, Va. – A wintry mix of rain and freezing rain continues today and starts to move out of the Commonwealth this evening. Motorists should remain alert to roadway conditions as lower temperatures tonight through tomorrow morning could cause wet roads to refreeze in areas west of Interstate 95 in Virginia, especially on bridges and elevated surfaces.
Wintry precipitation has begun to taper off from southwestern Virginia to the northeastern part of the state, until approximately 2 a.m. Temperatures are forecasted to drop beginning around 8 p.m. in the Shenandoah Valley through 4 a.m. in the northern and southwestern areas of the Commonwealth. Virginia Department of Transportation crews will monitor roads overnight and treat areas should icy conditions develop.
Motorists should use caution, if travel is necessary.
