STAUNTON — Part of Route 256 (Weyers Cave Road) in Augusta County will be closed for railroad crossing maintenance from 6 p.m. Friday, September 19, through about 8 a.m. Sunday, September 21. The location is between Route 276/750 (Keezletown Road) and Route 2003 (Wayside Drive) at Weyers Cave.

During the closure, through traffic on Route 256 will detour as follows:

  • Drivers west of the crossing (Interstate 81 side) will go south on Route 11 (Lee Highway), then east and north on Route 750 to return to Route 256.
  • Drivers east of the crossing (Weyers Cave side) will go south and west on Route 750, then north on Route 11 (Lee Highway) to return to Route 256.

All work is weather permitting.
