STAUNTON — The southbound lanes have reopened on Interstate 81 at mile marker 251.8 in northern Rockingham County. The northbound lanes remain closed. The closure is due to a vehicle fire with HAZMAT which occurred around 7:30 a.m. on November 6. HAZMAT teams are on scene.
This is between exit 251 at Route 11 in northern Harrisonburg area and Exit 257 at Route 11 near Mauzy.
Northbound traffic can use the following detour:
Use Interstate 81 exit 247A, onto Route 33 eastbound (Market Street), onto Route 340 northbound, onto Route 211 westbound, onto Route 11 northbound and back onto I-81 northbound Exit 269.
