STAUNTON – The following is a list of highway work that may affect traffic in the Staunton transportation district during the coming weeks. The Staunton District consists of 11 counties in the Shenandoah Valley and Alleghany Highlands.

Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. When traveling through a work zone, use extreme caution and be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

ALLEGHANY COUNTY

INTERSTATE 64 

*NEW* Mile marker 0 to 41, eastbound and westbound – Mobile right shoulder closures for debris cleanup, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

*NEW* Mile marker 29 to 28, westbound – Right shoulder closures for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

PRIMARY ROADS

Various roads – Flagger traffic control for tree and debris removal, drainage work, pothole patching, brush cutting, ditching and shoulder repairs, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

SECONDARY ROADS

Various roads – Flagger traffic control for ditch work, shoulder repairs, pothole repairs, pipe replacement and brush cutting, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

BATH COUNTY

PRIMARY ROADS

Various roads – Flagger traffic control for shoulder repairs and pipe cleaning, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

SECONDARY ROADS

INTERSTATE 64 

*NEW* Mile marker 41 to 56, eastbound and westbound – Mobile right shoulder closures for debris cleanup, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

HIGHLAND COUNTY

PRIMARY ROADS

Various roads – Flagger traffic control for pothole patching, brush cutting and shoulder repairs, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

SECONDARY ROADS

Various roads – Flagger traffic control for brush cutting, pipe cleaning, tree removal, and adding stone to unpaved roads, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

AUGUSTA COUNTY 

INTERSTATE 64 

*NEW* Mile marker 89 to 99, eastbound and westbound – Right shoulder closures including along Exit 91 and Exit 99 off-ramps for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

INTERSTATE 81 

*NEW* Mile marker 215 to 230, northbound and southbound – Right shoulder closures including along Exit 217 off-ramp for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

*UPDATE* Mile marker 221 to 227, northbound and southbound – Single-lane traffic on exit 221 southbound ramp to I-64 eastbound Jan. 5 – March 30. Shoulder closures northbound and southbound 24/7 through spring. Traffic restrictions are for I-81 widening project. Work zone speed limit 60 miles an hour.

Mile marker 234 to 237, northbound and southbound – Left shoulder closures 24/7. Work zone speed limit 60 miles per hour. Traffic restrictions are for construction of I-81 truck-climbing lanes. Estimated completion June

PRIMARY ROADS

Route 254 (Hermitage Road) – Flagger traffic control at intersections with Route 262 (Woodrow Wilson Parkway) and Route 792 (Indian Mound Road/Balsley Road) for intersection improvements, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through May.

SECONDARY ROADS

Route 612 (Laurel Hill Road, Verona) – Occasional flagger traffic control and westbound turn-lane closures at Route 901 (Mill Place Parkway) for intersection improvements, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays through August.

Route 834 (Hickory Hill Road) – Flagger traffic control between Route 631 (Ladd Road) and Route 640 (Goose Creek Road) for waterline installation, 7:30 to 4 p.m. through April.

Route 901 (Mill Place Parkway, Verona) – Occasional flagger traffic control near Route 612 (Laurel Hill Road) for intersection and roadway improvements, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays through August.

Various roads – Mobile traffic control for mowing operations. Flagger traffic control for drainage work, tree removal, shoulder repairs, pavement patching and brush cutting, 7:30 to 3 p.m. weekdays.

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY 

INTERSTATE 81 

Mile marker 237 to 238, northbound and southbound – Left shoulder closures 24/7. Work zone speed limit 60 miles per hour. Traffic restrictions are for construction of I-81 truck-climbing lanes. Estimated completion June.

Mile marker 242 to 248, northbound and southbound – Single lane closures 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. and shoulder closures 24/7. Traffic restrictions are for Route 33 bridge and interchange project with completion expected in fall.

*NEW* Mile marker 245 to 250, northbound and southbound – Right shoulder closures including along Exit 245, Exit 247 and Exit 251 off-ramps for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

PRIMARY ROADS

Route 33 (East Market Street, Harrisonburg) – Single-lane closures as needed. Shoulder closures 24/7. Traffic restrictions are for bridge replacements and interchange improvements with expected completion in September.

*NEW* Route 253 (Port Republic Road) – Eastbound right shoulder closures near Route 726 (Stone Spring Road) intersection for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

*NEW* Exit 291, northbound – Narrowing of off-ramp for environmental cleanup, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

*UPDATE* Mile marker 293 to 299, northbound and southbound – Slow-roll traffic control (rolling roadblocks) for controlled blasting between 9 a.m. and 12 noon Wednesday. Overnight single lane closures, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through night of April 30. Shoulder closures 24/7 through May. Work zone speed limit 60 miles an hour. Mile marker 306 to 325, northbound and southbound – Overnight left lane closures for cable barrier installation, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Jan. 31.

*NEW* Route 37 – Northbound and southbound right shoulder closures at various locations between Route 628 (Middle Road) and just north of Route 50 (Northwestern Turnpike) for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

*NEW* Various Roads – Flagger traffic control on parts of Route 654 (Cedar Grove Road), Route 671 (Green Spring Road), Route 731 (Cattail Road) and Route 1365 (Green Spring Court) for utility work, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
