BRISTOL – Replacement of the Front Street bridge over the Clinch River is starting soon. The bridge project is located at the intersection of Front Street with Fairfax Avenue, to the intersection of Front Street with Allegheny Street in the Town of Richlands in Tazewell County.
The current bridge will be closed to traffic during construction, and the bridge closure begins April 14.
When the bridge closure begins, motorists will detour using Route 460, Railroad Avenue, 2nd Avenue, Fairfax Avenue and Allegheny Street. Pay close attention to signs and message boards.
Pedestrians will use 2nd Avenue, Allegheny Street and Fairfax Avenue to avoid the work zone area.
Motorists are advised to be alert to detour signs in the area.
Work is scheduled to be completed by April 2026.
