BRISTOL – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports motorists should be alert to the potential for slick travel conditions. Rain and freezing rain are currently falling in the region.

Interstates 81 and 77 are clear but wet. Be alert to snow and ice patches on many primary highways in the region (e.g. Routes 11, 58 and 19). Most secondary highways (numbered 600+) remain snow-covered and slick.

Crews continue working 12-hour shifts to remove snow and ice on primary and secondary highways.

There is the potential for additional snow today. Motorists are encouraged to check travel conditions along their entire route. In Virginia, visit 511.vdot.virginia.gov or use the VDOT 511 app for road and traffic conditions.

Local updates about conditions in VDOT’s Bristol District are posted on X, formerly Twitter, at @VaDOTBristol. Visit VDOT’s winter weather page for more information about winter weather preparations and response.
