Lane closures on I-81 southbound in Washington County for bridge work

BRISTOL – Bridge work will occur day and night beginning next week along Interstate 81 southbound near exit 17 in the Abingdon area of Washington County.

Motorists should be alert to a continuous day and nighttime right lane closure from Sunday at 7 p.m. (November 9) through Thursday afternoon (November 13). The work will shift to the left lane starting Sunday at 7 p.m. (November 16) through Thursday afternoon (November 20). Pay close attention to signs and message boards.

Anticipate delays due to slowed or stopped traffic. Local traffic is encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid congestion.

Weather permitting, bridge work is expected to be completed by November 20.
