Highway Work Zones in the VDOT Staunton District
STAUNTON – The following is a list of highway work that may affect traffic in the Staunton transportation district during the coming weeks. The Staunton District consists of 11 counties in the Shenandoah Valley and Alleghany Highlands.
Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. When traveling through a work zone, use extreme caution and be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

ALLEGHANY COUNTY
INTERSTATE 64
Mile marker 24 to 26, eastbound and westbound – Right lane closures for bridge maintenance, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Friday.

Route 42 (Forty Two Road) – Single-lane traffic near Route 636 (Morgan Drive) for maintenance to bridge over railway. Temporary signals control traffic 24/7. Wide-load tractor trailers are prohibited. Estimated project completion October 31.

Route 693 (Cedar Green Road) – Temporary traffic signal in operation 24/7 between Route 703 (Buttermilk Spring Road) and Route 703 (Hebron Road) for maintenance to bridge over railway. Estimated completion October 28.
Route 834 (Hickory Hill Road) – Flagger traffic control between Route 631 (Ladd Road) and Route 640 (Goose Creek Road) for waterline installation, 7:30 to 4 p.m. through April 30, 2026.
Route 901 (Mill Place Parkway, Verona) – Occasional flagger traffic control near Route 612 (Laurel Hill Road) for intersection and roadway improvements, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays through August 1, 2026.
